About this camp

The UC Berkeley Summer Computer Science Academy (Non-Credit Track) is a rigorous two-week residential program designed for motivated high school students aged 16-17 interested in computer science and AI. The curriculum is based on UC Berkeley's introductory computer science course, "The Beauty and Joy of Computing" (BJC), and is taught by veteran BJC teachers. Students will engage in immersive coding experiences, powerful computer science concepts, collaborative programming, and problem-solving using the visual programming language Snap!.

Participants will explore core computer science "big ideas," from an introduction to computing and coding languages to developing their own programming projects. The academy also provides an introduction to Artificial Intelligence fundamentals, covering topics such as Supervised Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Generative AI, and AI Ethics. The program culminates in a "Code Celebration" where students showcase their individual or group coding projects to UC Berkeley Computer Science faculty and instructors, receiving feedback on their work.
