About this camp

The Lawrence Livermore SAGE (Science Accelerating Growth and Engagement) Summer Camp is a free, one-week day camp for Northern California public high school students aged 14-17. The program aims to broaden participation in STEM fields by connecting students with professionals at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Campers engage in a variety of hands-on activities, including scientific projects and engineering challenges, to gain a deeper understanding of research and technology at LLNL. They also participate in job shadowing experiences, observing the daily routines of STEM professionals and touring their workplaces. The camp features career talks from LLNL scientists and engineers, who share their career journeys and insights into diverse STEM pathways. Additionally, students develop professional skills, such as communication and leadership, through small-group discussions and workshops. The camp fosters a sense of community and innovation, providing students with an inside look at cutting-edge experiments and topics not typically covered in high school classrooms, and empowering them to explore future STEM career possibilities.
